A place with soul

We built a hotel. We ended up building a home.

It starts with a story

Long before Phnom Penh became a city, there was a woman.
According to legend, Daun Penh found sacred statues carried by the river and raised
a hill to protect them — a gesture that gave birth to the city itself.

Phnom Penh has always been shaped by water, movement, and quiet reinvention, a place where past and present flow together. Penh House takes its name from this story, not as a reference, but as a way of belonging. We are just a small place within a much larger narrative.

What matters to us

Penh House exists because we believe hospitality should be honest, rooted in place, built on respect, and delivered with care.

Locally rooted

Everything starts here, from the ingredients we use to the way we welcome people.

100% Independant

No templates, no scripts, just a way of doing things that feels right to us.

Embeded in a community

A place where guests, locals, and familiar faces naturally cross paths.

Sustainable

Organic sourcing, local partnerships, and small decisions that add up.

A different way of building

Behind Penh House is the vision of Dr Hay Ly Eang. He believes that Cambodia’s future should be built from its own roots.

After years abroad, he returned to a country rebuilding itself.
Not with ready-made solutions, but by working with what was already there: people, land, knowledge.

Through his work, from healthcare to agriculture, the idea remained the same: create value locally, respect ecosystems, and build something that lasts.

Penh House follows that same philosophy. A place that blends modern design with local materials, and global standards with Cambodian identity.

“ Superb hotel in Phnom Penh. Location is great - a short walk to the Palace and downtown area and river front. Staff very friendly and helpful. Wonderful pool. Lovely rooms, very clean, our favourite part was the totally cute hotel cat and kittens who came to our balcony every day to relax and for Momma cat to feed her babies. After she got to trust us they came a lot. Was a wonderful antidote to the busy city and important but deeply sad sights from the war. ”

“ I could happily live in this delightful, special place; more like a guesthouse than hotel with peaceful rooms & balconies. Loved it so much we cancelled accommodation booked after Kampot & returned here. Wake to soft bird chirp in the tall trees, enjoy shaded, clean pool, bar & eating area, SO clean, lovely ambiance, super clean rooms & facilities. All staff welcoming. Special call out to Tepy, who walked us to sister hotel to use facilities & Sophy, who made booking ongoing travels so easy & taught me some simple Cambodian words / ways. Quiet street, easy walk to river, palace, local streets. I would not stay anywhere else. ”

“ We had a lovely stay at Jungle Addition. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The pool area forms a nice oasis to cool down during the hot afternoon sun in Phnom Penh. Staff is very friendly and service minded. In addition to the above, the prices are very decent taking the comfort and service level into account! ”
